What this service helps with
People with a business idea need structured, practical guidance and a completed draft plan before starting a business.
About this support
The Start Your Own Business course is delivered live via Zoom over eight evening or morning workshops, each 2.5 hours long, covering different aspects of starting and managing a business. Topics include getting started and setting achievable goals, tax and the law including choosing a legal structure and the basics of income tax, USC and PRSI, researching the market through customer and competitor profiling and SWOT analysis, and marketing covering product, price, promotion and place. Delivery is practical and interactive, with access to experienced business trainers and case studies from local people who have started businesses. Participants also receive telephone and email support from the trainers between sessions. By the end of the course, participants will have completed a draft business plan and a clearer view of whether their business idea is feasible, provided they commit to attending all workshops and researching their idea throughout.
