Early to mid-stage food and drink producers need structured training, mentoring and a route to retail listing to scale their business.
About this support
LEO Roscommon delivers the Food Academy Programme, created with SuperValu in 2013, to develop early to mid-stage food and drink businesses that already have a trialled product. The programme runs as 10 half-day workshops across 6 modules covering food safety, market research, branding, marketing, finance, sustainability and business development, preceded by a short online webinar on LEO financial supports. Each participant also gets three dedicated one-to-one mentoring sessions with a Food and Drinks Consultant. Successful participants can pitch to a SuperValu panel and, if selected, trial their product in local stores for 12 weeks, with potential progression to a national listing, though listing is not guaranteed. Applications go through the Food Academy Team and Trainer, with an interview stage before places are awarded.
