About this support

The Food Academy Programme, accessed through LEO Kerry's Food Supports page, is a food business development programme created jointly by the Local Enterprise Offices and SuperValu. It consists of ten half-day workshops covering six modules including food safety, market research and branding, marketing, finance, sustainability and business development, delivered as a mix of plenary sessions and sessions confined to a participant's regional group. A short online webinar on LEO Financial Supports is also delivered before the programme begins. The programme is aimed at food and drink business owners in the early to mid-stages who have already developed and trialled a product and are looking to scale up; it is not suitable for early-stage start-ups. Successful participants get the opportunity to pitch to a SuperValu panel and, if selected, trial their product in local stores for 12 weeks, gaining direct feedback from store staff and customers with no guarantee of a national listing.
