Food Supports and Laois Taste - LEO Laois

What this service helps with

Laois food producers need structured training and a route to trial products in national retail before progressing to full listings.

About this support

LEO Laois's Food Supports page carries the Food Academy Programme, delivered nationally by the Local Enterprise Offices with SuperValu since 2013 to develop Ireland's artisan food industry. Participants receive training in food safety, market research, branding, marketing, finance, sustainability and business development, then get the chance to pitch their product to a SuperValu panel. Successful participants can trial their product in local SuperValu stores for 12 weeks, gathering feedback from staff and consumers to refine packaging, marketing and distribution before any potential move to a national listing, which the page states is not guaranteed. The page links to Food Academy partners, case studies, food-related courses, food networks and relevant news and social media coverage, positioning it as a signposting page into the shared national programme rather than a distinct Laois-only scheme.
