About this support
The Data Protection Commission publishes guidance on Data Protection Officers (DPOs) for organisations. It explains that, unlike the pre-GDPR regime, organisations no longer register their processing activities or pay a fee, but certain organisations must appoint a designated DPO: public authorities or bodies, organisations whose core activities involve regular and systematic large-scale monitoring of individuals, or large-scale processing of special-category or criminal-conviction data. Organisations required to appoint a DPO must publish the DPO's details and notify the DPC using the form linked on the page, and can find further guidance on the DPO role referenced from the same page.
