What they do

Teagasc is a statutory state body established under the Agriculture (Research, Training and Advice) Act 1988 to provide education, training and advisory services in agriculture and food and to undertake agricultural research. Its farm advisory service, delivered by qualified advisers from around fifty offices nationwide, serves Ireland's farming population, including some forty thousand direct paying clients, offering herd and flock management advice, business and financial planning, the Teagasc profit monitor and cost control planner, soil and grass analysis, environmental planning, and enterprise discussion groups including young farmer groups and the BETTER farm demonstration programme. It publishes Today's Farm magazine six times a year and a monthly advisory newsletter, and runs the Signpost advisory programme on sustainability, alongside accredited adult farmer education courses. Advisory service access requires a paid contract for on-farm visits, though many events, farm walks and publications are open to all farmers through the local advisory office.

Teagasc lists 4 services and 3 facilities on Irish Resource Hub across Ireland. The listed provision covers specialist expertise, network, information and guidance, and training. Its support includes Start a business, Grow and scale, Skills and training, Innovation and R&D, and Standards and compliance. 1 distinct eligibility condition is recorded across those services.
