What they do

The National Cyber Security Centre publishes an ongoing alerts and advisories feed covering active vulnerabilities and threats in widely used software, which businesses can monitor to prioritise patching. It is the lead authority for implementing the NIS2 directive in Ireland, publishing a quick reference guide and risk management measures guidance covering governance, asset management, access control, supply-chain policy and incident handling for entities designated essential or important. Under NIS2, organisations in scope must notify significant incidents in phases, beginning with an early warning and followed by official notification, intermediate report and final report, to the centre's computer security incident response team, with registration and reporting portals being rolled out as the national cybersecurity legislation is enacted. The centre also engages sectorally with critical infrastructure operators and is developing an Irish cyber security measures certification scheme intended to help smaller businesses strengthen their defences.
