Apprenticeship.ie is the national information and administration hub for Ireland's apprenticeship system, overseen by SOLAS. Employers wishing to take on an apprentice must first become an approved employer, demonstrating capacity to provide quality on-the-job training in the relevant occupation, with approval completed online through Apprenticeship Online. Approved employers and their apprentices must accept the apprenticeship code of practice, which sets out mutual duties including workplace mentoring, rostered release for off-the-job training and adherence to programme structures. The site lists named craft apprenticeships such as electrical and plumbing, and newer programmes including commis chef, information technology, engineering, auctioneering, biopharma and logistics, each with an employer information guide detailing responsibilities and entry requirements. Employers engage through their local education and training board training centre, which coordinates the off-the-job phases, or through the national apprenticeship information line.
